Volunteer To Help Others
Thank you for considering the volunteer opportunities offered by Welcome Warehouse, as described below. As you will see, we offer a warehouse of opportunities for you to lend a hand to a neighbor. If one of these volunteer opportunities sparks an interest, or if you would like additional information, you may complete our online Volunteer Application Form or contact our Director of Volunteers. Please allow three to four days for a response, as the coordinator is also a volunteer.

Warehouse Shop (located within the Indian Run United Methodist Church, 6305 Brand Road)
  • Our Warehouse Shop is a free store which is open on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of the month, and staffed by volunteers from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Duties include greeting and checking in, assisting families to select clothing, checking-out and bagging items, tracking inventory, and re-stocking shelves.
  • We receive donations on the first Saturday of the month, and depend on volunteers to greet donors, accept donations, write tax-receipts, and transport donated items to our Donations Depot.

Warehouse Storage (Donations Depot) (located at 7032 Hospital Drive)
Due to the overwhelming generosity of our community, the Warehouse Shop cannot accommodate all of our donations. Therefore, we sort donations in a space in the Avery Square Plaza. Volunteer opportunities abound to help with this ongoing process of sorting donations. Groups can help in sorting and organizing donations during our regularly scheduled times as well as by appointment throughout the week.

Furniture Match
Assist the Furniture Coordinator to pickup donated items from the donor’s residence, and deliver items to the residence of the family in need. Volunteers must be able to lift and carry heavy furniture. If you have a truck, your help would be greatly appreciated! We invite high school sports teams and men’s groups to help with this program.

Adopt-a-family 2011 Program
This program matches families in need of assistance for Christmas, with sponsors seeking an opportunity to experience the joy of giving! Volunteers are needed to recruit sponsors, call families to obtain sizes and wish lists, shop for families and write thank-you notes to sponsors. There are many opportunities to get involved in this wonderful outreach.

Translators
Often times Welcome Warehouse needs help translating some of our documents into other languages such as Spanish and Arabic, as well as communicating with families that are being assisted. If you are fluent in English and another language, this may be an opportunity for you to help out in your community.

Administrative and Website Administration Help
Volunteers with experience in Microsoft Office are needed to assist with data entry, administrative and clerical help. Volunteers with knowledge and experience of web development can help our Technology Team manage our website. Preferred skills include SQL and ASP.net programming.

Multilingual Computer Education Lab
Facilitators, trainers and volunteer assistants with strong computer skills, some experience in computer education, curriculum development, etc. Spanish-speaking and Arabic-speaking interpreters are needed, too. Two hour evening classes will be held twice a month at area sites to be announced.

Board of Directors
Welcome Warehouse is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of community volunteers. To serve in this position, an individual must be committed to our Founding Principles and mission and regarded in high standing both in ethical and moral values. Ideal candidates would have served as volunteers or Coordinators in at least one of our programs and preferably, on one of our board committees for a minimum of six months.

Our Mission:
"Welcome Warehouse is a faith based non-profit organization that provides a warehouse of opportunities, goods and services to those of us who are temporarily in need."
